A day in the life

Look at the picture of this former mayor of the English city Lancashire. Where did they find this guy in the first place? He was breaking into women's homes and stealing their undergarments, or as they say in the article, their unmentionables. Freak alert.
Knicker theft mayor wins prison sentence appeal - Local - lep.co.uk
''I read the news today, oh, boy. Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire. And though the holes were rather small, they had to count them all. Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall. "

Health department scam

I'm not sure what these scammers are up to. Maybe my friend and restaurant manager Bill "Squirrel" Joyce will know. A person from California is calling up local restaurants and claiming to be a New York state health inspector. They then proceed to ask for employees cell phone numbers. Whatever happened to Do you have Prince Albert in a can?

Commie bastards

How do you know the people living next door to you aren't Russian spies? You see them in line at Dairy Queen. They look normal, but then again, so did these 11"Americans". Some were using the names of dead people. Others had ficticious jobs. They were given bank accounts, cars, and houses in exchange for providing information to the Russian government about science and financial types.

Why couldn't I get in on this? Don't they need spies from Buffalo?
When asked about the arrests, a spokesperson for the Russian President said they were unaware of any arrests. That's pretty funny, since I've read about them on every news site in the country over the last couple of days. Maybe, the Russian leaders just aren't up on current events these days.
US officials say they were tipped off to the Russian "sleeper" agents after learning that hot women had been spotted at parties appearing actually interested in talking to scientists and engineers about their jobs.

Bass Pro-Dead in the water?

The government plans on giving Bass Pro a $35 million dollar direct public subsidy. They also are throwing around $154 million in "surrounding improvements."

The two guys in this clip from the Public Accountabity Initiative really seem to hate Bass Pro. I just think it's a bad deal for the city. If a company felt they could turn a profit downtown, they would not need government enticement.

Ralph Mouth

One thing that's great about Erie County Conservative Party Chairman Ralph Lorigo, is that he shys away from using inflammatory rhetoric...

“My candidacy is not about me,” Lorigo said. “It’s about preserving the Conservative Party in a year when it nominated a baby killer who wants to take away our guns.”

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a baby killer trying to take away our guns. Looks like Lorigo has been reading from Carl Paladino's playbook...

Another one bites the dust

What's more newsworthy than another person distancing themself from Byron Brown, is the title of Donna Brown's new position at ECMC. From today's Buffalo News:

At ECMC, she will serve as director of patient satisfaction and cultural awareness, a new executive-level position created to improve patient services at the Buffalo hospital.

Everyone is hurting financially. Teachers are being laid off. Businesses are closing. Yet our tax dollars will go to improve cultural awareness at ECMC? Are they serious?

"Donna is a perfect fit," said Jody L. Lomeo, ECMC's chief executive officer, "because she'll have the clout to reach into all corners of our operation and collaborate with doctors, nurses and staff to create an atmosphere of patient appreciation and diversity that becomes a national standard."

Well, when you put it that way. When I go to get antibiotics, the one thing I'm looking for is a climate of patient appreciation and diversity. No replacement for Brown has been named but one person's name keeps being thrown into the mix...

Random Thoughts From the Ghetto-Volume 30

I look out my window and see the empty 40 oz beer bottles, hypodermic needles, crack pipes and abandoned shopping carts on my front lawn and begin to think. The end results have become known as my random thoughts from the ghetto...

-Whatever happened to the leashes with the invisible dogs? Those things were funny. I have a feeling they will be making a comeback soon just like the "Baby on Board" signs did a few years ago.

-The last few weeks of school were certainly tough weather wise. It was 80 degrees with no air conditioning. One kid told me "my pits stunk". Another said I had bad breathe. I heard a third student ask a female teacher if she knew she was getting fat. I wish the kids today would open up more and tell us what is really on their minds.

-Noco is putting in a drive thru for their new Mighty Taco restaurant. Don't take a sharp turn or you might end up in the Buffalo River. A better idea would be for the gas station itself to have a drive thru. Then, all the fat slobs wouldn't have to walk inside to get their beer, blunts, cigarettes, or lottery tickets.

-I was driving the other day and I pulled up to one of those tiny cars at a red light. I said, is that one of those smart cars? The driver said, "yes it is. Are you one of those dumb drivers?"

-It's always funny when someone gets mauled and nearly killed by a wild animal. They always say they don't hold any resentment towards the animal, saying "that is just what wild bears do when they get nervous and feel scared." I wish one time they would interview a survivor who would say, "I do hold resentment towards the animal. It ruined my life and I hope it becomes extinct soon."

-The Gus Macker has come and gone for another year. Police report several arrests for disorderly conduct, involving unruly fans. Parents of the fans are upset and say their children need to be allowed to stay at the courts, regardless of their behavior. Organizers will set up a court inside the grounds next year for teenagers who don't know how to act in public. The delinquents will receive two hours of free throw instruction followed by counseling, to find out the reasons for their poor conduct.

-They say a good entertainer always leaves people wanting more. That said, when people finish reading this blog, they say they'd rather have less.

Oh snap

A national group comes to Buffalo to protest the transferring of priests accused of sexual abuse by the Catholic Church. As part of a national study of clergy sex abuse in the Catholic Church, diocesan officials in 2004 revealed that 53 clerics in the Buffalo Diocese had been accused since 1950. They moved this guy to India. They used to move priests to neighboring counties. Now, it appears they are moving them to distant continents...

Bruno's "friends" give judge an offer he can't refuse

Only in Albany could a political corruption case be marred by, of all things, political corruption. Joey "the chin" Bruno was not just accused of corruption. He was convicted of it in May:

Lawyers for the once-powerful Republican legislative leader began working on trying to undo the conviction, which was based on charges that Bruno deprived the public of his honest services as he got rich with outside business dealings.

I understand the whole innocent until proven guilty thing. The problem is he has been proven guilty. He was sentenced to jail for blatantly violating the public's trust. Bruno has yet to spend a day in jail. Why? He has too much power:

Bruno, 81, was sentenced in May to two years in prison, though the judge has allowed him to remain free while awaiting the high court rulings.

Wouldn't it be great if the law applied to all of us? Bruno is allowed to remain free, based on the possibility that his case might be overturned. Who is this judge and who is he being bought off by? Looks like someone gave him an offer he just couldn't refuse. I'd love to see his freezer and all the one hundred dollar bills that probably occupy the inside of it. At what point did our country cease being a Democracy? The sad part is, this stuff has become so common, it doesn't even surprise the average citizen anymore. It is just accepted as par for the course.

Ruling gives Bruno hope on appeal : Latest Local News : The Buffalo News

Cunningham puts residency requirement on the table

The city and the fire union cannot agree on a contract. No new news here. This time, the union's president, Dan Cunningham, added a residency requirement for all new firefighters on the table. Interesting, considering for years, union members have said the lack of a residency requirement doesn't hurt the city. They also like to cite the "importance" of the Taylor Law. Here are Cunningham's comments:

Union President Daniel Cunningham said the plan included a key concession that would require all firefighters hired in the future to live in the city for the duration of their careers.
“It would add to the quality of life in the City of Buffalo and increase its tax base,” Cunningham said.

Are you listening Bob Meegan? James Kane? Dave Thomas? Somebody out there is finally agreeing with the residents. Lets hope this concession is a sign of things to come...

Bass Pro is a no-go

It's nice to know there are other Western New Yorkers that don't think it makes sense for us to subsidize private companies like Bass Pro. I'm not sure how this is going to play out, but I believe plaintiff James Ostrowski makes a great deal of sense with his comments in this story. An appellate court agreed with him today.

The question becomes, will Bass Pro build here, if they are not given government assistance? I think we should market the waterfront itself and don't need some corporate giant to be successful. Bass Pro looks like it might be dead in the water. I hope...

The cause of the earthquake

A local cleric has come out with the cause of today's earthquake. Believe it or not, it had nothing to do with the fault lines going through Quebec. According to Sheik Yassar O'Reilly Rodriguez, it was God's angry response to all of the unappealing women he has seen lately leaving Seneca Street bars dressed in belly shirts and Daisy Duke shorts...

Then Phyllis jumped up and said there's an Earthquake!

June 23, 2010 is going to go down as one of the most bizarre days in WNY. First, we had an improbable goal in the 90th minute which enabled the US to win their group at the World Cup. Later on, there was a Wimbledon tennis match (which is not over yet-It was suspended due to darkness) in which one set lasted over 7 hours. This is the longest professional tennis match ever.

Finally, the weather today was downright ridiculous. It started off as a beautiful humid day. Then, there were reports around 1:30 of a 5.0 earthquake hitting the area. The epicenter was actually in Quebec. I was teaching gym in my school's basement and didn't feel a thing. Later on, we had thunder and lightning at around 6:00 PM. It is currently 7:00 PM. The sun is out and I can hear the birds chirping. The scary part about earthquakes is the fact that scientists don't have a clue about when or where they are going to strike. The fact that they always say, " we won't ever have a major one", makes me think we someday probably will. One thing we've learned about the weather is that it is unpredictable. Who ever saw the October storm coming? Andy Parker claims to have predicted it, but we all know he's full of crap, like the rest of them. Mike Cejka was probably dressed up in leather chaps in someone's garage when it took place and Kevin OConnell was probably trying to bail his son out of jail. I have to go now. I think it might be a full moon and I'm expecting to see werewolves running down South Park Avenue later tonight.

Comerford's comments expose the city to a potential lawsuit

Some neighbors are complaining about all the crime taking place lately in front of Club Chit Chat on Clinton. That's strange, since strip clubs in poor neighborhoods are usually known for their upscale clientele. Buffalo's new Inspections Commissioner, East Aurora residency violator Jim Comerford, may have exposed the city to potential litigation with these comments in today's Buffalo News:

Inspections Commissioner James W. Comerford said he thinks there have been too many problems at the club.
"We've got to do something to put a stop to it," Comerford told lawmakers Monday when the controversy was discussed at a pre-meeting caucus. "We'll get our guys out there."

Had "his guys" gone over there and cited the owner, it would have been one thing. But to say you are going to do just that in a public meeting is admitting that you are specifically targeting a business owner before even looking at his property.

So now, the city will send it's South Buffalo political hacks club over there to throw the book at the owner. I hope the owner hires a high priced attorney to say they are being unfairly targeted based on Comerford's ridiculous comment. He basically is saying, "We don't know that they are doing anything wrong but we are going to send our inspections guys out and find something wrong with the building."

I would also would like to remind the owner to question Jim Comerford's residency while he's at it. It is common knowledge that he lives in East Aurora. As just another tourist, he should have no authority over what takes place on Clinton Street in the city of Buffalo anyway. We certainly don't answer to him or any of his friends in my neighborhood.

Orchard Park-Most racist city in America

Orchard Park's not a racist community. You're welcome to live there if you're black (as long as you play for the Buffalo Bills.) People, Inc. has taken the rare step of suing the town after the town blocked the agency from building senior apartments. The leaders of the town requested zip codes in an effort to keep people from Buffalo and Lackawanna out.

Sorry Orchard Park. We don't want to live in your shit town anyway. I hope you get sued and Al Sharpton comes here and pisses on your lawns. East Aurora and Holland are much nicer anyway. From the Buffalo News article:

"This request was intended to learn whether residents of Carnation had come from the more racially diverse cities of Lackawanna and Buffalo," the complaint states.
Town officials denied charges of discrimination last year, stating they were concerned about providing services, and concerned about the loss of industrial land where the project would be built.

Stop lying Orchard Park. These vague terms aren't going to let you squirm out of this one. Just come out and admit the truth. Can't we all just get along?

The New York state cigarette money grab

This is what's called a classic money grab. New York states' cigarette tax will now be the highest in the country. On July 1st, it will go from $1.60/pack to $4.35/pack. The question becomes how much will people pay for the right to kill themselves? The leaders of the state know nicotine is an addictive drug. They know smokers will pay whatever they have to to get their smokes.

A friend of mine tells me people on corners constantly leave their posts and approach his window to ask him for a cigarette. I talked to someone else today who said she is constantly approached for spare cigarettes downtown. When smoking becomes affordable only for the rich, New York state will lower the taxes on it again.

Bad timing award

So, you're responsible for the biggest environmental disaster in over a century. What do you do with your time? The same thing all privileged idiots do. Go sailing on your yacht. Pictured above is Nero fiddling, as the ancient city of Rome burned to the ground...

East Aurora Jim sells us out for $85,000/yr.

When "East Aurora" Jim Comerford drives past South Buffalo on the 400 on his way to work every morning, he must think: it's a nice place to take money from but I'm too important to live there. Comerford was recently awarded for selling out your neighborhood and mine to mayor Byron Brown. Fortunately, one publication is calling him out on it. We are holding our collective breath to see if he will cease becoming a residency violator and move into Buffalo. Can I please have some of my hard earned money back? This comment from a Buffalo News reader sums it up pretty accurately:
"What government in Erie County would be complete without a Comerford? administrations come and go, but the Comerford family will get their half million dollars in public salaries no matter who is in power"...

Comerford named to head permits, inspections
The man who has been steering efforts to revamp Buffalo’s permits and inspections process has been tapped by Mayor Byron W. Brown to serve as the department’s permanent commissioner.
Brown nominated James W. Comerford to become commissioner of permit and inspection services. Comerford has been deputy commissioner for nearly three years and most recently has served as interim head of inspections as the city overhauls the department.
Assuming the Council confirms his appointment to the $85,000-a-year job, Comerford will run a department that no longer oversees economic development.
PS: East Aurora Jim- Do not talk to me. I don't answer to you. I might be part of the have-nots, but you're opinion means nothing to me. I do not want anything to do with you. I simply represent a large portion of your former neighbors who are sick of political prostitutes such as yourself selling out their neighborhoods in exchange for their 30 pieces of silver. There is nothing (short of violence) you can do to stop me from expressing my opinions. You will never intimidate me.

Niagara Falls food fight

Foiled thief hurls hamburgers, hot dogs
NIAGARA FALLS—Quick action about 10:30 p. m. Friday by an employee of the Misty Dog Grill on Main Street foiled a thief who was trying to sneak off with hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken from the restaurant freezer, police said.
As the thief emerged from the walk-in freezer loaded with $100 in food, the employee slapped the bundle from his grasp. In retaliation, the would-be thief hurled some of the food items at the employee before fleeing on foot, police said.

Niagara Falls police are not naming any suspects at this time. However, they have released this picture of someone they are describing as a "person of interest."

Letter to the editor- National Rip off

After reading this ridiculous letter in today's paper, I have two questions: Who is Richard Lee and What is he personally trying to gain from National Fuel? This is the same monopoly that raised our heating bills a few years ago, saying the previous winter wasn't cold enough! Richard T. Lee: Show some pride in yourself. You obviously have both hands out and are looking for something (job, donation, ???). "Selfless involvement in our community"? You are a freaking embarrassment to genuine asskissers everywhere. Did you really just take the time to fawn over the biggest corporate crooks in the greater Buffalo/Niagara region? Man, when you were born, instead of slapping you on the behind, the doctor should have slapped your mother...

National Fuel is making investment in community

Dave Smith and his team at National Fuel have for many years assisted hardworking neighbors who have struggled with their gas bills. This corporate understanding and involvement is appreciated, as is its consistent efforts to work with neighborhood associations.
Recently, National Fuel increased its selfless involvement in our community by assigning a senior executive to function as deputy Erie County executive at no cost to the taxpayer. This is a significant investment in our community, especially for a company that has major business activities not only in North America but in other continents as well.

Letter to the editor- school suspensions

I've been pretty tough on the Buffalo Public Schools and superintendent Williams, but I think it's only fair to point out when they are unjustly criticized. I agree with this former Lafayette High School student that the suspension of a Lafayette student last week had nothing to do with his subsequent murder.

School isn’t to blame for death of student

The needless and tragic death of a Lafayette High School student last week has prompted finger pointing in the wrong direction. The school policy should not be blamed. Should a student be suspended for wandering the halls instead of being in a classroom? Yes. If you skip a class and wander the hallways, you get disciplined. A student gets suspended only after being previously warned.
It’s not a new policy by any means. I graduated Lafayette in the late ’60s and that policy was in place then. Does a suspended 15-year-old need an adult to come to school to pick him up? No. A 15-year-old student doesn’t need an adult to accompany him to and from school every day, so why is an adult needed to accompany said student sent home on a suspension? Bottom line: If the student was sitting in class instead of wandering the halls, there would have been no tragedy.

Riverside student sentenced for assault

Hey Rod Watson: Why was this kid arrested? Isn't it acceptable for students to slug teachers in Buffalo? Maybe he was just "sassing" the teacher and didn't mean to hit him (or her). How long before he gets out and commits another serious assault? When he does, will that be Dr. Williams fault, too?

Ex-Riverside student gets shock incarceration

D’Andre Smith, a former Riverside High School student, was taken into custody Friday as he was sentenced to a state shock incarceration camp for slugging a teacher seven months ago.
Smith, 17, of East Amherst Street, also will be on probation for three years.
He previously pleaded to third third-degree assault for the incident at the school about 3 p.m. Dec. 18.
City Judge Craig D. Hannah also granted him youthful offender status for the school assault.

Maybe they should have just kept the parks closed

It's nice to know Congressman Eric Massa is making good use of his newfound free time. It's always funny when they catch priests, judges, teachers and politicians deep in the parks looking for new friends. I don't know why they even arrest these guys. Most of the time, they just get off anyway. Oh. Wait a minute. What did I just say?...

Police sting at Lancaster park nets three on male sex-related charges

In response to complaints from park users, Lancaster police this week ran a sting operation aimed at men who solicit other men for sex in the rest-rooms and wooded areas of Como Lake Park.
Town police say they receive complaints each year from parkgoers who were approached for sex or who see men having sex in the woods along the park’s nature trails.
Police arrested two men and a youth on charges of forcible touching or public lewdness during the undercover operation Tuesday, Detective Capt. Timothy R. Murphy said.
The reports of public sexual behavior and sexual solicitation typically start up again in the spring and summer at Como Lake Park, Murphy said.
Lancaster isn’t alone in facing this problem. For years, Ellicott Creek Park in the Town of Tonawanda was known as a venue where men met each other for quick, anonymous sex, despite the risk of arrest.

City fireman charged after drug raids

A city firefighter was arrested on felony drug charges after Buffalo narcotics detectives raided two properties, including his West Seneca home, Thursday and uncovered an extensive hydroponic marijuana-growing operation, police said.
As Robert W. Kunz, 43, of Brookside Drive, was getting off his job Thursday afternoon at Ladder 15 at Clinton Street and Bailey Avenue, narcotics detectives raided a house he owns on Allegany Street in Buffalo, then his home on Brookside.
Detectives recovered 50 potted marijuana plants in various stages of growth from the house in Buffalo, along with lamps and other growing equipment, authorities said late Thursday. At the house in West Seneca, police said, they found several more pounds of dried marijuana on trays, waiting to be packaged.
A quantity of hallucinogenic mushrooms and some pills also were seized, along with a shotgun, according to police.
The raids were part of an investigation by the State Attorney General’s Office and Buffalo police. Buffalo Narcotics Detectives Thomas E. Doctor and John C. Garcia were the lead investigators. West Seneca and Lackawanna police also participated.

State pensions now made public

Prepare to be shocked. New York state pension salaries are now being made public. Andrew "Status" Cuomo is now declaring war on pension padders. How long will this last? Two, perhaps three days after the braindead voters of New York annoint, err, I mean elect Cuomo governor:

Superintendent Williams-1 Rod Watson-0

I strongly disagree with Rod Watson's collumn in today's Buffalo News. At issue is the suspension debate in Buffalo after the murder of 15 year old Lafayette High School student Jawaan Daniels on Friday. Here are some excepts from the article:

Lafayette High School’s Jawaan Daniels was gunned down at a bus stop after being booted from the building for roaming the halls and sassing adults.

"Sassing adults." Watson should spend a week as a sub in Buffalo and see what really goes on in some of these classrooms. Many of these students (black, white, and Hispanic) have never been taught respect or discipline at home. The "sassing" starts in Kindergarten. The unruly kids think (sometimes correctly) that they run the school. And why shouldn't they? At some schools, the unruly kids outnumber those trying to get an education. Adults in charge just periodically get in the way of their free breakfast, lunch, and socializing. There's more from Watson:

The district needs to let social workers get at the underlying issues that cause kids to misbehave, rather than leave suspensions up to administrators. And schools have to involve parents, the vast majority of whom want the best for their kids but may need guidance in figuring out how to help them.

By the time these kids get to high school, it's too late. Any teacher will tell you, they can spot the troubled kids in Kindergarten. What Watson is saying is: these kids don't have competent parents. It is now up to the teachers to be their parents. How about holding the parents responsible at an early age?
The "vast majority" of parents want the best for their kids? Buffalo schools try to involve the parents. Teachers tell me they have parent-teacher conferences where 2 out of 100 parents show up and they are forced to stare at the walls. However, try to discipline their kids and they'll show up with a lawyer at their side. You notice when they gave out $200 for school supplies, all the parents got that memo? Yet, most teachers I talk to say very few of the students in Buffalo bring pens or notebooks to class.

At least Superintendent Williams gets it, and I give him credit for speaking out on WGRZ news yesterday. It sounds like he might even be reading my blog. Good for him. At least I'm getting paid to teach someone in the city:

But Williams says it's something he has been looking at for some time. But changing suspension protocol is just a start.
"The issue in this community are guns," he said. "[And] the failure of the African American males in this city and this country."
"We need to get the parents involved in the decision making of the behavior and treatment of their children and if their parents don't come we need to get these people standing up here be surrogate parents," Williams said.

For a year, I've been saying the biggest problem in the Buffalo schools is disrespect and a lack of discipline by some of the students. Money is not the answer. A change in attitude toward education is required in the poorer neighborhoods (black, white, and Hispanic). Kids in some underdeveloped countries go to school on dirt floors. However, their families value education and the opportunities it presents. They wouldn't think of disrespecting authority. Why do people like Watson think we should tolerate it here?

Hero

If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself. California construction worker Gary Brooks Faulkner takes this old adage one step further in his attempt to single handily capture Osama bin Laden. They should hire him, as it appears as though the government isn't too concerned about catching the worst mass terrorist of our generation. Faulkner shouldn't spend a day in prison if he is deemed sane. He should be given a medal. I've said it before. Give me a case of beer and 20 guys from Hopper's collecting disability and we could find this guy in two weeks.

Faulkner's way off, though. My intelligence sources tell me bin Laden is hiding out just north of South Buffalo's lawless tribal region (formerly known as Babcock).

When they make the made for TV movie, they should have this guy play the would be Rambo...

Letter to the editor- Caz Carnival

Marty Farrell calls for the discontinuation of the Cazenovia Carnival due to violence and tomfoolery.
Cazenovia Carnival should be scrapped
While I applaud Assemblyman Mark Schroeder’s efforts to revitalize South Buffalo, I think it’s time he asked the Cazenovia Carnival not to return. Each year the number of arrests escalates and I don’t think the budget for police should be wasted on this nonsense. This event that does not make South Buffalo shine, and I hope it becomes a memory before a more serious incident occurs.
Marty Farrell
West Seneca

I agree with Marty. This carnival has become nothing short of an excuse to fight for local teenagers. Most people will not allow their own kids to attend. Law enforcement and the organizors have tried to work with the event goers, but they are not interested in cooperating. It has gotten worse over the years. On a side note, Marty's 250th letter puts him in exclusive company with Kenneth Rummenie and Tony Hammil as Western New York's most prolific opinion writers.

Ants in search of sugar

A new low for art and journalism. Taken on my almost daily run by the Union Ship Canal:

Radford plays the blame game

Blaming the Buffalo Public Schools for the death of 15 year old Jawaan Daniels is ridiculous. Sam Radford III, an active(grandstanding) parent, says the district's suspension policy is to blame.

"That was a preventable death," said Samuel L. Radford III, an active parent in the city, who is outraged by the [system's] response. "This [system] is so desensitized to young people dying that they have lost a sense of urgency. We want a sense of urgency about our children's lives."

Give us a break. The only person to blame is the yet to be named gunman who pulled the trigger. Daniels was suspended for wandering the halls of Lafayette High School on Friday. He was sent home at 12:30PM.

Jawaan Daniels was wandering the halls at Lafayette High School on Friday when the announcement went out: Any student caught in the halls would be suspended and sent home.

A number of parents said suspensions are imposed for minor infractions such as students being in the hallway during class time, talking during a fire drill or wearing inappropriate clothes to school.
"The punishment must fit the crime," said Kelly A. Ticco, president of the PTO at Lafayette. "We cannot continue to use even short-term suspensions, out of school suspensions, as a punishment for minor problems."

Lafayette High School did nothing wrong in this case. They sent home a bunch of students who were treating class as a joke. They got their free breakfast, hung out with their friends, and then got their free lunch. Their day was, in effect, over. Radford should go into the schools and see how seriously these "students" take school. In fact, if Daniels left school at the regular dismissal time, how do we know this gunman wouldn't have fired into a crowd of students at the bus stop? He obviously had a complete disregard for life.

Parents and students, though, say Jawaan was "a good boy" who was wandering the halls because he did not want to go to a class where he had encountered problems with a teacher. The precise nature of the problems was not clear.
When he found out he was going to be suspended because of the hall sweep, he got upset and talked back. Insubordination was added to the disciplinary counts against him.

More excuses. To see any young life lost is a tragedy, but let's look at the facts here. He "encountered" problems with a teacher? In other words, he disrespected an adult. Then, he argued with more adults. I feel bad for his family because of his death. I feel worse for the good kids in the Buffalo Schools that have to attend class with the likes of his shooter on a daily basis. Sam Radford: Stop playing the blame game. Stop trying to use this tragic event to promote yourself. Start addressing the real reasons behind this murder; the breakdown of the family, a complete disregard for the value of an education, and easy access to handguns.
