The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for all of Western New York this week. These tips from the Red Cross might help you to keep cool:
-Wear plenty of dark clothing. Coats, gloves, and hats.
-Dress in layers. Thermal underwear is highly recommended.
-Don't drink plenty of fluids. But if you have to, we recommend vodka or some other form of alcohol.
-Stay outdoors in the sun all day and exercise as much as possible. Avoid shady areas. This is especially true for young people and the elderly.
-Don't worry about your neighbors. If you don't see your elderly neighbors for a few days, they're probably just having a wild orgy or watching a Golden Girls marathon on TV Land. There is no need to check up on them. They wouldn't check up on you.
-Newborn babies love the heat. If you're near the casino, you can leave them in the car and play the slots or a few hands of blackjack. That's what car seats are for!
-If you start feeling nauseous or dizzy during an activity, don't worry about it. The feeling will probably pass.
Other summer safety tips:
If you see any black bears roaming the woods near your house, they like to be handfed and petted. Feel free to approach them.
Fireworks are fun for all. Kids, if you see an M-80 with a short wick, go ahead and light it. The thumb is a highly overrated appendage these days.
Have a safe and fun-filled summer!
