People can say anything they want about different cultures. They can say Muslims like this are simply extremists and do not represent the entire group as a whole. I disagree with that. These people are simply nuts. A woman in Iran, who has already received 99 lashes, has recently been sentenced to death by stoning because of the crime of adultery. Recently. As in the year 2010 and not the year 40 BC.
The President of Iran and his top men refuse to do anything to stop the stoning. Why would they? It's probably politically unpopular to oppose the sentence in a country where 99% of the people are crazy. After all, look at who they elected President. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is speculated to have been one of the criminals who took the 50 American Embassy workers hostage for over a year in 1979. In our country, we put people like this in jail. In Iran, they apparently elect them President. In countries like Iran, women are themselves arrested for the "crime" of being raped. Honor killings still take place with regularity. For example, a boy commits a crime. His sister is raped or even killed in a sanctioned act by order of the judge as a punishment for her brother's crime. In their warped view, this is said to bring honor to the family.
With a mindset like this, it's hard to believe anyone would take these people seriously. It's easy to say it's just the actions of a few. However, these extremists must have the backing of the general public to allow this stuff to continue. And these are people who claim to be working with us? No thanks.
