Cheating at Sudoku

They think there might have been some cheating going on at the National Sudoku Championships in Philadelphia this weekend. I don't know what's worse. Someone cheating at the National Sudoku Championships or the fact that there is a National Sudoku Championship.

Apparently, this new guy named Eugene coasted all the way to the finals in a hooded sweatshirt. He was unknown to most of the regulars. He won his matches in record setting times. Competitors are allowed to wear headphones and iPods ( there's a great idea). Organizers think his headphone might have been connected to an accomplice with access to Sudoku solving computer software. Red flags were raised when he couldn't complete a simple move at the beginning of the final. You can't blame the guy. Those puzzles can be tough. Say it isn't so, Sudoku Joe.

In unrelated news at the nerdfest, competitors shared their various experiences of being tossed into high school lockers and organizers discussed random testing of competitors next year for the use of anabolic steroids.
