Mom's "bad day" will result in weekends in jail

Some students in the Buffalo Public schools have a bright future ahead of them with role models like this for parents...

Wendy Lashon Battle, a single mother of four, was ordered today to spend weekends in jail over the next four months for assaulting a teacher in front of a sixth-grade class at Buffalo's Charles Drew Magnet School last spring.

"I'm not a bad person, I was just having a bad day," said Battle, who pleaded guilty Aug. 31 to a felony attempted assault charge.

Sorry Wendy. We all have "bad days" but very few of us enter classrooms and assault teachers in front of the students. In other news: Superintendent Williams announced that the real problem with our failing schools in the city is the principals...
