If you don't get the headline, think back to the 1980's. John Ames (no relation to former 8 is Enough star Willie Ames) was arrested for trying to pass a fake $50 bill at the Burger King on Seneca St...
Teen charged with trying to pass phony $50 bill
A South Buffalo teen was arrested Saturday night after allegedly trying to pay for a fast-food order with a phony $50 bill, Buffalo police reported.
An employee told police that John Ames, 17, of Ramona Avenue, tried to pay for a $3 food bill with a counterfeit $50 bill at 8 p. m. in the Burger King restaurant on Seneca Street. After the bill was rejected, Ames paid with real currency, the employee said.
Ames also kicked over chairs in the restaurant when he was asked to leave, police reported. Ames was lingering outside when officers arrived.
In an effort to gain his release, the suspect reportedly told the police he was related to the Kanes. Not buying his story, police reminded him that a Kane hasn't been seen on or near Seneca St. in over 30 years.
