WNY's top spellar

13 year old Amherst resident, Nabeel Rahman, made it to the 2nd round of the National spelling Bee on Thursday...

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. -- Nabeel Rahman, the Buffalo area's 13-year-old spelling superstar, made it to the second round of the finals at the 2011 Scripps National Spelling Bee Thursday night. But then a shrub did him in.

Nabeel spelled that particular shrub "dockmacky," when it ought to be spelled "dockmackie."

Nabeel plans to visit some of Washington's historic landmarks before coming back to WNY and being beaten mercilessly by his parents, for losing. It's hard to believe this 1997 winner was home-schooled. I mean, she seems so normal in this clip...
