First Thurman and now Tasker? Former Bills Special Teams star Steve Tasker opted out of the race for Congress before anyone even knew he was in it today. I believe Tasker would have won the primary 75%-25% had he chose to run. People in this town can't get enough of the Bills, especially those from the Super Bowl teams...


I'd like to nominate Mike Keighron as Tasker's future campaign manager. He was always the biggest Tasker fan I've known. How can you not like a guy who gets thrown out of his last NFL game in the 1st Quarter? The play at 3:01 of this clip is one of my favorite plays from that era. He catches a line drive kickoff and is racing towards the endzone before most of the Raiders even knew he had the ball. This play completely changed the momentum of the playoff game, which the Bills came back and won...

Congressman Carl?

From this week's Artvoice... This would be an interesting race, featuring two South Buffalo political heavyweights...

• There is much muttering, too, about the possibility of Republican developer Carl Paladino challenging Democratic Congressman Brian Higgins. Paladino is a frequent critic of Higgins, which is awkward: They’re related by marriage.

From what I heard, Higgins' thugs threatened Paladino with bad press should he run for Governor a few years back. Not long after he announced his candidacy, the off color emails surfaced. They were leaked to WNY Media.NET, a left leaning website. Carl never forgets. Caught in the middle of this is the Hannon family, one of the nicest families in South Buffalo (See, I'm not always mean. I just tell it like it is.)

Hochul running a tight ship

Congressperson Kathy Hochul is spending only 30% of the money she was offered to run her office. The rest she is giving back to the taxpayers. If this becomes a trend Brian Higgins might have to tell Bonnie Kane Lockwood, Chris Fahey, Rick ($10,000) Finnegan, and the rest of his bloated fat cats to get off the public dole and find work in the private sector. Too many political HACKS. Not enough leaders...

Redistricting

Congressmen Brian Higgins and Kathy Hochul are both trying to save their current seats by spending large amounts of money on State lobbyists. We wouldn't be losing the seat had half the state not left for the Carolina's. My vote would be for Louise Slaughter to go. She's terrible.

It's going to come down to who can make the biggest bribe to Sheldon Silver and other assorted Albany crooks. I think Higgins would defeat Hochul in a primary. Perhaps all three will leave and go find a job in the private sector. Hahahahhaha. Obviously, I'm just joking...

Professional thieves

Thanks to rising public anger, it appears as though Congress will finally move to have insider trading scam made illegal. Unbelievable, that it took a 60 Minute's news story to illicit change. Not only were Congressmen exempt from this law, but so were their staff members. PIGS. Every last one of them. They call this public service. 95% of them should be in jail. Don't worry. I'm sure these lowlifes will find another loophole to abuse their power....

"Honest" graft

60 Minutes wondered how Congressmen were disproportionally adept at playing the stock market and investing. It seems many of them leave Congress with significantly more money than when they enter. The way they do this is unbelievable.

It seems they can "legally" obtain inside information on what stocks to buy by obtaining information unknown to the public. In fact, some used this information to profit from the Stock Market collapse of 2010.What an honest person would call criminal activity, they simply refer to as "honest graft".

It's like getting a call from a bookie saying, "the Bills are winning by 28 points at halftime. Would you like to place a bet on the game? It must be nice to make yourself exempt from the laws that the rest of us have to follow. If you get a chance, please check out this short, eye opening story here...

Life imitating last name

You couldn't make something this ridiculous up. A Congressman named Weiner allegedly sent out a picture of his weiner to a constituent in her early 20s. First, he said his computer was hacked. Now, he is refusing to deny that the picture is of his (insert crude word here).

"I didn't send the picture out," Weiner told MSNBC's Luke Russert in a televised interview.

"That's not a picture of you?"

"You know, I can't say with certitude. My system was hacked. Pictures can be manipulated. Pictures can be dropped in and inserted," Weiner replied.

The best part of this story is how the congressman initially tried to play the whole thing off as another joke on his last name. Then, when asked to deny it was him in the picture, he refused. It says here, he sent out the picture himself, the sick weirdo. It kind of reminds me of a few months back when Congressman Eric Massa was accused of tickling his male staffers. At first, he tried to say they were all just wrestling on the floor, goofing around, and tickling each other. Then, people explained to him that most straight guys don't wrestle and tickle other guys with any sort of regularity on a normal work day. It was a nice try on his part, though. Let's not forget Larry Craig, the Senator from Idaho, who tried tapping on the foot of the guy next to him (who happened to be a cop) in the bathroom stall at the airport. He said he didn't mean anything suggestive by it. He said he just had a "wide stance." And yet we continuously elect these freaks to multiple terms.

This Weiner jackass needs to fess up and get off of the national stage, immediately. His is clearly the weiner in question. Now, if your last name was Weiner and you were a U.S. Congressman, wouldn't you avoid sending out dirty pictures of your weiner to 21 year olds? Perhaps he was looking for more national name recognition. This guy is a moron. I hope the bloggers and other journalists keep digging into this story more. Is that all these clowns in Washington do all day (send out pictures of their body parts to interns and transvestites)?

Perennial candidate?

I've been listening(unfortunately)to the ads for the candidates vying for the 26th Congressional seat. Of course, they are all very predictable. First, the eerie music plays while Mr. or Ms. Serious Voice talks about what villains the two opponents are. Then, the triumphant music begins and we hear about how wonderful their candidate is. They are enough to make even the least cynical amongst us want to puke.

I heard one today for Jane Corwin. During the initial bashing, the narrator describes one of her opponents as a "perennial candidate". I'm sure they were referring to Jack Davis. Davis has run a few times unsuccessfully, however, the reason he has been unsuccessful, is because he often goes against the party machines. I'll take a guy spending his own money over someone like Corwin or Kathy Hochul (both of whom are beholden to their respective political parties.) If that's the worst thing Corwin can say about Davis(that he's run before), he must be a good candidate. The bottom line is neither Hochul or Corwin would be running, if they didn't have their party's support. That should tell you something right there about both of them. People in Western New York have had it up to here with career politicians who tow the party line (see Jim Keane). They came out in droves to support Carl Paladino in the Republican Primary last Fall, against the party backed candidate.

I don't know anything about Hochul. However, based on her latest ads, I can tell you Miss I Was Born With a Silver Spoon in my Mouth Corwin appears to be getting desperate...

Is she serious?

I couldn't tell you anything about the three candidates vying for the Congressional seat in the 26th district. However, as quickly as Chris Lee chasing a transvestite in Washington, I can tell you Jane Corwin comes off as a liar. In her literature and fundraising documents, Corwin says she "was a successful businesswoman for 36 years before going into the Assembly in 2008". Since she was 44 in 2008, that would mean her business career started at the age of 8.

Incredibly, when questioned about this obvious exaggeration, this was Corwin's response...

Corwin, now 47, sticks by her claim, saying she's worked much of her life in her family business -- doing everything from delivering the Talking Phone Book as a child to proofreading its pages as a teenager, and from marketing it as a vice president when returning from college to making strategic decisions as secretary-treasurer of the board in subsequent years.

There you have it. Let it be known that Corwin will have no problem lying to you if elected. I'm not saying the other two candidates won't. However, she clearly has no problem insulting the intelligence of the average voter by sticking to this claim. Hilarious.

This special election doesn't interest me at all. What they should really do is get a pit of mud and let Corwin and Kathy Hochul have at it. They're both the same size and about the same age. Winner take all. Heck, I'd even say give crazy Jack Davis some viagra and let him get in there as well. He might be a guy, but his advancing age makes it a fair fight. We all know these three are liars and don't really care about the average Western New York resident. Why not at least make it entertaining for the rest of us?

Davis' makes outrageous comment

A millionaire Republican political candidate from Western New York made an outrageous comment this week and no, it was not Carl Paladino...

Congressional candidate Jack Davis shocked local Republican leaders in a recent interview when he suggested that Latino farmworkers be deported -- and that African-Americans from the inner city be bused to farm country to pick the crops.

Anyone who reads this blog regularly knows we're against most forms of political correctness. However, Davis' comments to me were way over the top. To single out an entire race, shows bad judgment. There are people of all races looking for decent paying jobs in this area. While maybe not intentional, the comments make it sound like this type of work was below whites. And I can tell you, there would be many whites willing to do farm work for decent money.

Busing an entire race of people to perform work conjures up images of slavery, which politically correct or not, Davis should have had enough sense to avoid. It's too bad, because I like the fact that Davis is taking on the establishment yet again. However, comments like this make me question whether he is in touch with the constituents of the district. The GOP leaders, who fear a Davis candidacy, were predictable in their response...

"I was thunderstruck," said Amherst GOP Chairman Marshall Wood. "Maybe in 1860 that might have been seen by some as an appropriate comment, but not now."

What a loser. Area Congressman Chris Lee sent out this shirtless photo of himself on Craigslist in Maryland.

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Chris Lee -- who is married, with a child -- sent a shirtless picture of himself to a Maryland woman on Craigslist's "Women Seeking Men" forum last month, the online scandal sheet Gawker reported today.

Put your shirt on, dude. Lee apparently is trying the "someone else got into my computer" defense. DC police believe the person responsible is the same guy who looked up porn on Ralph Pornandez' computer, used racist comments on Niagara Falls Fire Commissioner Roger Melchior's computer, and used former Orchard Park School Superintendent Paul Grekalski's phone to call area sex lines. We need to find some actual work for these clowns to do...

Arizona shooting

The tragic shooting in Arizona was the act of an unstable person. There is no room on either side of the aisle for violence. Some people are attempting to politicize the incident, which is unfortunate. I feel this is another example of guns getting into the hands of the wrong people. The big question we should be asking is how someone so unstable got his hands on an automatic weapon in the first place...

New Yorkers voting with their feet

People are leaving New York state in droves because of the lack decent jobs and ridiculously high taxes. Ironically,the only way you can get a decent job around here is if you're related to Florida resident Jim Keane. As a byproduct of the "Keane-drain", New York will be losing two of it's Congressmen in 2013. For Western New York, this means either Brian Higgins, Chris Lee, or Louise Slaughter will be out of a job. I guess it's true: every dark cloud does have a silver lining.

Some people are speculating Slaughter, who looks more like 80s wrestler Sergent Slaughter,

might be persuaded to retire. Slaughter is 114 years old. She started her career as Betsy Ross' sewing partner and was sworn into Congress by Ben Franklin. She and Higgins can't stand each other, so I'm told. Higgins is a member of the entitled class and has never had to apply for a job in his life. I honestly don't know anything about Lee. It should be interesting to see how this thing plays out. Here's the full story from channel 7...

Congressman Brock Landers

Any regular reader of this blog knows I love it when an incompetent son/daughter tries to take over the family business, especially in politics (see Jack Quinn, Jr.) The thing that amazes me the most is how dumb the electorate is. These clowns always jump right to the head of the polls. Doesn't history teach us anything? Does the name Henry VIII ring a bell? The newest case in point is Ben Quayle, son of former Vice President Dan Quayle:

Ben Quayle's name helped him jump to the front of the pack of 10 candidates vying for the Republican nomination in a GOP-leaning district that includes sections of Phoenix and Scottsdale. Eight-term Rep. John Shadegg is retiring. One of Ben Quayle's ads features Dan Quayle with his son saying: "I grew up watching my dad fight for conservative values."

The district is a very conservative district so Quayle is campaigning on a platform of family values. The only problem is his last job was writing for a porn based website:

Campaigning as a family-values conservative, Ben Quayle, 33, first denied and then admitted that he wrote for a sex-steeped Arizona website.
Nik Richie, founder of the racy website, said Quayle used the alias "Brock Landers," the name of a character from the 1997 movie "Boogie Nights" about porn stars in California, and wrote lines such as: "My moral compass is so broken I can barely find the parking lot."

When a politician promotes "family values", it's usually a red flag that he/she is a closet freak, not to mention a hypocrite. In a recent campaign mailer, Quayle posed with his wife and two young girls and said, " we are going to raise our family here in Arizona." The only problem is he and his wife don't have any children! The girls were his nieces. Opponents are now accusing him of "renting a family."

The biggest joke in this whole story... he will probably win. Maybe Cuba has it right after all...

Smerlas opts out of Congressional race

Former Buffalo Bill Fred Smerlas has decided not to run against Louise Slaughter this year. Although I'm not as conservative as Smerlas politically, I do respect him. His father was raised in a housing project. Smerlas had a long career as an undersized Nose Tackle. He's been a successful businessman and talk show host. In fact, his Boston radio show is syndicated in Rochester on WHAM. I wish we had it here, as Buffalo talk radio leaves much to be desired.

I laugh when people say Smerlas is not smart enough to run for office. Not smart enough? Just because he doesn't speak like a politician, does not mean he is not intelligent. If people knew how stupid some of these career type politicians were, they would never make such a statement. From the attached article:

"One of the things the Democratic Party said about me was I wasn't qualified," he said. "Well, I ran my own business. I've been successful. I've been in radio and television. I've been in football."
"Barney Frank [Massachusetts' 15-term Congressman] never worked a day in his life," Smerlas said. "The Kennedys never worked a day in their lives. It should be mandatory to at least have some taste of what the effects of the policies you put down will have on the town and people."

The founding fathers are probably rolling over in their graves. We have the health care crises, high taxes, ridiculous spending, and a different scandal every week. Yet, the system is set up to protect the incumbants. They set up their districts so that they are party friendly. They pay off big groups and certain political hacks. Our own Brian Higgins pays Rick Finnigan $20,000/year to collect signatures for him and put up signs. He has Bonnie "Garbage Tax" Lockwood as an $80,000 secretary while you and I struggle to pay our bills.

Despite serious problems in our region for decades, all three congressional representatives will face little or no opposition this fall. If the system was fair, there would be someone willing to run. Unfortunately, it will take something very serious to change this.

Massa offers male staffers hands on experience

Congressman Eric Massa now says he groped a male staffer but it was not meant to be sexual (???). I don't know. He kind of has a Principal Rooney from Ferris Bueller's Day Off vibe going on in this picture. Here's what he told Glen Beck on Fox News: "Yeah, I did. Not only did I grope him, I tickled him until he couldn't breathe and four guys jumped on top of me. It was my 50th birthday and it was: "kill the old guy.' "

We get it. It was just a silly birthday thing! Isn't that what all straight guys do on their birthday? My 38th birthday is coming up this month and I have no intention of spending it tickling other guys. In fact, if Massa is straight (as he claims), this behavior is even weirder than if he is gay (which he obviously is). Do we really need our representatives rolling around on the floor and tickling their male staffers? If it was any other profession, it would be considered unprofessional, not to mention bizarre. Blame the current political system for producing freaks like "Baby Joe" Massa. "I don't trust that Bueller kid as far as I could throw him."

"Baby Joe" Massa opens up his press conference with "They got you in a vice grip", referring to his contention that the Democratic party used his "gayness" to blackmail him. Apparently, he was thinking about one of his dates last Saturday night. Nobody really cares that he is gay (except maybe his wife and two kids). If it's blackmail, the question I have is, why did he choose to resign?

Congressman Eric Massa: Don't ask, don't touch

Corning Congressman Eric "Baby Joe" Massa resigned from Congress today, citing recurrence of cancer as the reason for his resignation. Oh yeah, there also was the small matter of Massa making unwanted sexual advances to his male aides. This probably came as a mild surprise to his wife and two kids.

It's always sad when these guys get caught leading a double life and feel they have to make up some ridiculous lie. Remember the Congressman caught in an airport bathroom stall who said he wasn't there to pick up guys but merely had a "wide stance"? Massa hopes to use the break from Congress to spend more time with his family, as well as some of his"constituents" near at Ellicott Creek.

Massa, apparently inspired by the Village People, was a former Navy commander. He must have been one of the first benefactors of the don't ask, don't tell policy.
