Well, we can cross one name off the list...

Should Higgins and company try to push perennial Yes-man Tim Whalen for Kearns' vacant Council seat, Kearns' forces will undoubtedly save this telling quote from the Buffalo News for the September Primary...

Whalen told The News he is interested but is still thinking about whether to toss his hat in the ring. He said he will consult with some prominent figures in South Buffalo politics — Rep. Brian Higgins, State Sen. Timothy M. Kennedy and his brother-in-law, former county executive candidate James Keane—before making a decision.

We found some footage of Tim Whalen asking Brian Higgins for permission to run for the vacant seat...

If Whalen can't decide for himself whether to run or not, what makes you think he's capable of making his own decisions on the Common Council? So, the voters overwhelmingly rejected Jim Keane for County Executive and Brian Higgins' handpicked candidate for Assemblyman, Chris Fahey. Yet, Whalen thinks it's a good idea to advertise the fact he is incapable of making his own decisions to all of the News' readers. I guess that's why they call him Einstein. Get out the gong!

You might remember Whalen as the guy Len Lenihan had tossed off the Erie County Legislature (under the guise of downsizing) after he decided (or should I say Higgins decided for him) to jump ship and side with Chris Collins and the Republicans. Great career move.

Five may seek Kearns’ Council seat

  1. Why do you idiots think private sector folks will do well in government.. It very seldom works out. Make a real recomendation that makes you seem like you might have a clue. I like Overdorf, he reminds me of Chris Fahey. Very smart, big on morals and comes from an awesome big family..

    1. With me, I'm not of the school that private sector people will make better leaders. I just have to dismiss anyone whose whole career has been on the public's dime. I like Kevin, but my comment was basically pointing out that the others have relied on government their whole lives.

  2. Overdorf and Bohen are the two horses. Both good candidates so it's a win win for South Buffalo. I believe they are friends so it will have to be worked out between their camps.

    1. Hope you're right. Both are good guys, in my opinion. Ironically, I think Fisher is too close to Kearns and will have trouble getting support from council members because of this.

  3. Bohen would be good as long as he's not influenced by Conrad. He's a hard worker with lots of energy!

  5. Tim Whalen should run for this seat. He is a hardworking man who would represent South Buffalo well as a Common Council Member. Len Lenihan did not oust Tim Whalen from his legislative seat, the downsizing of the legislature signed by a federal judge, decided on the redistricting, which ultimately eliminated the 2nd district.

    1. So I guess it was just a coincidence that the three turncoat Democrats (Whalen, Bove, and Williams) who caucused with the Republicans to create a majority were the ones who lost their seats after redistricting? I'm sure it wasn't payback or anything.

  6. WHALEN is part of the HIGGINS -KENNEDY- SCHRODER- group that chose to endorse Byron Brown. Shame on all of them , they have no credibility and will never get my vote for anything.

    1. yes, when these three did this, they thought it was just politics as usual. you would never see black leaders endorse a white candidate for mayor over one of their own. these three idiots thought they could endorse brown and people would just forget. they haven't and won't!

  7. I lost a lot of respect for Schroeder due to his endorsement of Brown over Kearns and also the letter he sent out urging everyone to vote for Cuomo over Carl Paladino.Hello Mark, doesnt your daughter work for Carl!!!

  9. Useless political hacks who don't care about you or me or the city, they are only in it for themselves.

  10. And the good honest people are prepared to push back.

  11. Overdorf claims he has the Higgins, Schroeder, Kennedy, and McGurn support wrapped up. Thats to bad.

  12. It's obvious that the Bohen camp has taken the high road in this race already. The Overdorf camp should stay out of the bars. Kearns predicted that this would be the case.

  13. Whalen should run for Common Council!

  14. Overdorf is a fat lazy $%*! Plus he used to snitch out his fellow bartenders at Molly's to the blockhead miser of an owner. I don't trust him. His lies to the owner got him more hours but they also got a popular South Buffalo bartender fired.
