One small step for man...

I love this story from Philadelphia. They say he's committing a federal crime, but I think this hacker should be considered an early frontrunner for Time Magazine's 2012 Person of the Year...

His name is Eric — last name withheld by request. His tactics are simple, but terribly effective: He uses a cell phone jammer to interrupt loud conversations on the city's number 44 bus route, resulting in dropped calls.

"A lot of people are extremely loud, no sense of just privacy or anything," said th DIY phone hacker to an NBC affiliate in Philadelphia. "When it becomes a bother, that's when I screw on the antenna and flip the switch.

"I guess I'm taking the law into my own hands and quite frankly, I’m proud of it."

The only question I have is, where can I get one of these devices? The worst offenders are the annoying cell phone users in restaurants or those standing in lines at stores arguing with their babbydaddies.. God bless technology, keeping us one step ahead of rude people.

Cell phone guy disrupts NY Philharmonic

We've all heard the annoying ring tones go off in public places. Then, there's the guy who thinks everyone in the office/restaurant wants to hear about how well his Fantasy Football team is doing. There needs to be a serious war on obnoxious cell phone user. An IPhone went off during a performance of the New York Philharmonic on Tuesday. Apparently, it was an alarm and the new user had no idea how to turn it off. So, he just let it keep ringing. I'm glad the conductor stopped the performance. We need more people like him to stop this nonsense...

The Wall Street Journal reports that when an iPhone's distinctive "Marimba" ringtone initially went off, Gilbert turned his head to signal his displeasure. But the ringing from the first row persisted and minutes went by.

Gilbert asked that the offending noise be turned off and finally stopped the orchestra until it was. The audience gasped. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal Wednesday, Gilbert claimed the ringtone ruined his concentration during the symphony's "most intense, most sublime, most emotional place."

Annoying cell phone user

Now that everyone in the Western Hemisphere has a cell phone, signs need to be put up in public places reminding people that others don't want to hear you. We don't want to hear your loud conversation or your annoying Lady Gaga ringtone. The experiment's over. Society thought common sense would prevail, but it has apparently taken a back seat to rudeness. Here is the latest rude cell phone user, kicked off a train for talking loudly on her cell phone and using profanity. I'm finding restaurants to be the easiest place to spot (should I say Hear?) the annoying cell phone user...

Can you hear me now?

Usually, I view most traffic violations as one big money grab for municipalities. However, when it comes to cell phone violations, I'm all for high fines. Who hasn't gone to a restaurant and heard "that guy" talking on his cell phone like he's on a megaphone? Or those annoying ringtones? Are some people that desperate for attention that we need to hear their Beyonce ringtone go off when we cross paths in a public place?


We went for years without even answering machines or caller ID. There are very few conversations so important that you need to put everyone else's life on the line.
Driving a car and having a phone conversation are two mutually exclusive activities (and should stay that way). Your life is not a video game. The machine you're operating is traveling at a high rate of speed. If you slam into me, we don't have a reset button. Your call to your best friend can wait until the ride home is completed...
