Conservatives abandoning core principles?

I'll say this about the Green Party. At least they adhere to their core beliefs. The Western NY Conservative Party?, they don't seem to stand for anything these days. Ralph Lorigo appears to be the biggest scam artist known to man.

How can these guys target Mark Grisanti, based on his support for gay marriage, and then turn around and support Chris Fahey? Fahey is in favor of gay marriage and partial birth abortion (unless Brian Higgins calls him next week and tells him to change his mind). This article is not for or against these issues. People believe what they want to believe. It just seems to me Lorigo is forfeiting his party's core beliefs in favor of personal gain. If the Conservative Party doesn't stand for these issues, then who does?

It appears some true conservatives are starting to make waves against Brian Higgins' $88,000.00/yr prostitute Chris Fahey. Here was a quote on "11,000 Doors" Facebook page this morning. Of course, I'm told it was only up there for 10 minutes...

"South Buffalo Democrats like you, Higgins, and Kennedy, checked your souls at the door and moral values that you were taught at the Catholic Schools that you went to:St. Teresa's. Timon, and St. Joes, when you entered politics. I know the Sisters of Mercy and Franciscans didn't teach you to be pro-choice, pro gay marriage. You came from a family of nine so it is obvious your mother didn't have those same values. How is the deal with the devil to get politcal power working out for you guys? See you at Church on Sunday- probably not. You guys can go represent Allentown where your values are more alligned. Not Conservative South Buffalo, Lack, West Seneca, and OP."

I think after this election, the Conservative Party members are going to have to look within the party to make changes at the top. How can you run a party when your views are clearly not in line with the members?

The endorsement Chris Fahey doesn't want you to know about

Some critics say we don't talk about the issues, so let's talk about them. A looming issue for any candidate for statewide office is gay marriage. One needs to look no further than Mark Grisanti to see what a polarizing issue it can be.

An alert reader from Lackawanna (birthplace of the Blogger), sent me a recent political cartoon from Artvoice Magazine. The cartoon blasts both Catholics and Conservatives. (I guess if you're on the Left, it's ok to be intolerant towards these groups.

Anyway, I don't begrudge groups like the Stonewall Democrats. They have a clear agenda and would be the first to admit it. Made up mostly of homosexuals, they obviously are a strong proponent of gay marriage, and it is their right to do so. The district Mickey Kearns and Chris Fahey hope to represent, however, is predominantly Catholic and predominantly conservative. I don't know if the majority of the constituents in this district feel the same way on the issue as Chris Fahey does.

The constituents have the right to know where each candidate stands on the ssue of gay marriage. Kearns did not seek out the endorsement of the Stonewall Democrats. However, Fahey did, but doesn't want your conservative neighbors to know it. He hasn't mentioned it on any of his fliers or commercials. Here's a comment from Artvoice, which was found underneath this cartoon...

So when Chris Fahey tells your grandmother at the Irish Center what a good Catholic boy he is, have her ask him where he stands on the issue of gay marriage. I realize many people are in favor of the new law. However, I don't think you can count most elderly conservative Catholics among them. This is a tightrope Chris Fahey has chosen to walk. Perhaps it's why most of his contributions are coming from New York City special interest groups. Interesting.

Ralph Mouth

One thing that's great about Erie County Conservative Party Chairman Ralph Lorigo, is that he shys away from using inflammatory rhetoric...

“My candidacy is not about me,” Lorigo said. “It’s about preserving the Conservative Party in a year when it nominated a baby killer who wants to take away our guns.”

If there's one thing I can't stand, it's a baby killer trying to take away our guns. Looks like Lorigo has been reading from Carl Paladino's playbook...

Lazio is a dud

The state Conservative Party has decided to back Rick Lazio for Governor. No big surprise there. I got one word for Lazio. Dud. I can't say anything bad about him because he's never said or done anything of note. He ran a lackluster campaign against Carpetbagger Clinton, where he failed to generate any excitement or enthusiasm from the voters. The state leaders must have figured he'd stand up for New York City's interests more than the outspoken Carl Paladino. He and Honest Andrew Cuomo look like clones from a bad horror movie. Carl Paladino kind of looks like their crazy uncle. That's why I already know I'm voting for him should he beat Dud Lazio in the Republican primary.
