Church scammer

I don't know why they're being so hard on this poor bastard. Everyone needs to make a living. He's clearly very religious, as he worships at Catholic, Baptist, and Protestant churches. In fact, he worships wherever petty cash and lax security coincide. This was probably my favorite part of the article...

John Bish is responsible for a several church burglaries in Buffalo, according to area police, and is suspected of similar thefts in Amherst, Hamburg, West Seneca and Jamestown over the past 18 months.

Though Bish’s DNA was found on a bottle of altar wine he allegedly drank, the case was dropped late last year.

In the words of a famous former South Buffalo resident, "Can't a man relax?"

Suspect in church burglaries an enigma

The next American Idol

Just in case you were wondering what George Costanza was up to these days, my nephew Nick sent me this clip. This guy could possibly be the worst singer on the face of the Earth. He says he has performed it many times. It makes me wonder why one of his friends hasn't taken him aside and suggested he contribute to his church in some other way. Looooooooooking for a city! It sounds like a bunch of cats are being slaughtered nearby. If I was a member of this congregation and had to listen to this every Sunday, I'd be "Looking for a City" that had a different church...

Church sign

Thanks to my nephew Nick for this photo. It's always funny when church signs imply the threat of burning in eternal hell as some sort of cute joke. It doesn't make sense for churches to be so judgmental. No matter what your sin, you're going straight to hell. Have we really advanced that far from the Puritan days? I could care less what anybody does behind closed doors.

If you believe the Bible, you know that Jesus Christ hung out with the undesirables of his time. Yet, many people calling themselves Christians, want to send everyone else to hell. Most of the truly religious people I've known, never wasted their time trying to scare people. These are silly times we live in...

Typical Florida story

A church in Florida found an interesting way to attract new members:
Photobucket

The minister says the message is derived from a particular Bible verse...

He said that for people to understand they must read the Bible verse Mark 2:13-17, in which Jesus eats with sinners and tax collectors, to realize what inspired the billboard.

He claims that the message is based on Jesus Christ's work to engage sinners and put them on the right path and believes the problem stems from people not going to church.

Church theft in Kenmore

This is hilarious. A stranger shows up at a Kenmore Church and offers to take up the collection. He quickly is working as an usher at four different masses each weekend. A few thousand dollars later, the pastor catches on. When someone shows up at four masses each weekend, shouldn't a red flag go up? The mass has ended. You may go to the bank in peace...

Man donates kidney to his pastor

Luis Clay, a local man, donated one of his kidneys to his pastor, Father George Reger. Can this be considered a modern day indulgence? In exchange for the kidney, the priest wrote Clay a letter of recommendation to God.

2:30 AM mass in Pa.

I'm not so sure this is a good idea. A church outside of Pittsburgh will be starting a 2:30 AM Saturday night mass in hopes of attracting the bar crowd. Are they planning on having bouncers instead of ushers? "The mass has ended. Go home and puke."...

(AP) PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh churches used to offer middle-of-the-night services for employees who worked odd hours. One church is bringing the tradition back with a 2:30 a.m. service. The Rev. Carmen D'Amico said he's adding a weekly Mass on Sundays, timed for just after the bars close. D'Amico is hoping to attract those out late on Saturday nights. Officials have been handing out fliers at local colleges to publicize the new service.

The early Mass hasn't been held since 1991.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports the service was dubbed the "Printer's Mass," because it was popular with newspaper employees. Some had just finished their shifts while others would attend Mass and then go deliver newspapers.

More Turmoil at St. Teresa's

Looks like St. Teresa's Church is in the news again. Karen Krajewski, an alleged whistleblower to financial irregularities at the church, was shown the door by the new pastor. She will be replaced by a yet to be named deacon. This story will provide gossip at St. Teresa's bingo games for the next 25 years. The diocese has not named the new deacon but my sources have obtained this previously unseen footage of him in his youth.
