Classic movie scenes: Rocky

"Don't you think I hear things? There are a lot of canaries flying around by the docks."

One of my favorite scenes from the first Rocky movie. Rocky's boss/Godfather wants to know more about the girl Rocky is taking out the next day.

Rocky:"You ought to count your blessings. You're still a healthy person."

Buddy:"I don't like your face."

This is why I hate sequels. The original Rocky was a great story about a punch drunk boxer who finally got a second chance in life. Throughout the movie, his lack of communication skills were what made the character memorable and iconic.

Getting punched in the head too many times made him who he was. Here is the ending scene, where he goes the distance with the flamboyant Apollo Creed (reportedly modeled after Muhammed Ali)...



Fast forward to Rocky IV. All of a sudden, the guy who couldn't put two sentences together in Rocky I, is an articulate speaker. After he defeats the Russian, Ivan Drago, he delivers this speech which ends the Cold War once and for all. "If I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!"
