The worst volunteer job in America

From WGRZ.com:

CLARENCE, NY - A former Wyoming County Boy Scout leader is facing charges for his alleged involvement with a 14 year old boy from back in 2009.

State Police say Timothy Klossner, 47, of Attica is facing several sex related charges, along with endangering the welfare of a child.

He was formerly a scoutmaster in both Attica and Alexander.

Who in their right mind would want to be a Boy Scoutmaster these days? If they look creepy, people pretty much assume they have ulterior motives. If they look normal, people think they are pulling a "Mike Brady", appearing like the all-American heterosexual male, but hiding deep, dark secrets.

I feel bad for the normal father, who actually wants to be a scout leader for the right reasons. If I was that guy, I'd probably just take my own kids camping and find another way to help others.

  1. Granted, it's not easy being an "honest" scout leader or priest these days....but what do you say now that he's admitted that all of allegations were true...What do you have to say about that?

I say Stop "ass-uming" that child sexual abuse is not real- It is real...It's a horrifying reality for far too many kids! He gets ten years (& probably less for "good" behavior) while those six boys (& possibly many more) lives are ruined...and very likely their families, their children's & even grandchildren’s (or lack thereof) lives will be horribly impacted as well...

Don't be naive about this...it has consequential negative effects on us all, and in so many ways you can hardly comprehend.

Perhaps you should be more outraged that he only gets 10 years of surveilance-So far most all statistics show that pediphiles don't rehab...They don't get better...

  2. My article wasn't supposed to be about his guilt or innocence. it was just on the fact that a normal person would shy away from such a volunteer position because others assume something is wrong with them. I'm glad he was convicted and I agree with you about what a terrible crime it is. I agree with you on the recidivism rates also. Most do not change.

There are however some cases where the accuser recants. I believe one of the accusers in the Syracuse basketball case admitted they were lying. Not to say most accusers aren't telling the truth. I believe they are and should be believed. I'm sorry you had to go through what you did.
