Patronage Gardens

People all across Erie County are trying to figure out what makes career politician David Swarts so full of himself for no apparent reason.

The Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens went outside the Western New York box and hired a career politician, who knows nothing about horticulture to be it's new Executive Director.

Dave Swarts brings with him zero talent and a long list of accomplishing squat during his uneventful, taxpayer funded career. From the Buffalo News.

David J. Swarts, former Erie County clerk and commissioner of the state Department of Motor Vehicles from 2007 to 2010, was named president and chief executive officer.

Swarts, who will earn $89,000 annually, is the fifth person to be named to the position in the past six years and, like all but one, has no background in horticulture.

The Botanical Gardens is close to the Blogger's house. As a member of the welcoming committee, I'd like to be the first to tell Swarts he's a dufus and the Board showed little integrity or vision in hiring him. The people of Western New York are sick of career, Hollywoood-style blowhard politicians using great neighborhood landmarks to promote themselves. I'm glad Swarts is interested in the Gardens, but I hear WalMart is greatly in need of a cart collection specialist.

  1. remember when the admission was free at the botanical gardens? These institutions are always endagered but then they pull crap like hiring this dufus for $89K. Why doesn't Dr. Williams run this too. He knows about as much about horticulture as he does running a school.
