Obama's visit in pictures

"I'd like a double order of wings, extra crispy." "Sorry, sir. I'm actually the mayor."

"Mr President. I can show you where all the best bondage shops are in Western New York."

Obama comment

People are a little annoyed at the woman's comment to President Obama in Duff's Restaurant yesterday. I'm sure some found it disrespectful of her. I guess the thing that annoys me the most is that it appears to have been pre-planned on her part. As soon as she realized she was about to meet the president, she must have thought "what is the most outrageous thing I can say to him?" Whatever happened to, "it's an honor to meet you, sir"? I'm not even going to repeat what she said, mainly because it's not funny and quite stupid, in fact. Buffalonians should be talking today about how well the President's visit went and how Brian Higgins looked like Mary Poppins holding his umbrella for him. Instead the nation is talking about some lady with an oversized mouth and a low class comment. Too bad.

Money talks

If you were wondering why President Obama chose Industrial Support, Inc. for his "White House to Main St. Tour", wonder no more. From today's Buffalo News:

Many local political observers believe that Rep. Brian Higgins, D-Buffalo, proved most influential in helping outline the president's itinerary and the visit to Industrial Support.

As a company that has grown from four employees to more than 60 in 14 years, Industrial Support is evidence of Obama's oft-stated contention that manufacturing can thrive in America. The company's founder, David P. Sullivan, has contributed $1,900 to Higgins in the last two years, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Yes We Can

Congratulations to President Obama on winning the Nobel Peace Prize based on his 4 terrific weeks in office. One of our staff photographers was able to snap this photo of Obama accepting the prestigious award in what appears to be my kitchen.
