Hollywood phonies exposed

I make no secret of the fact that I favor increased gun control laws in this country. However, I couldn't agree more with the NRA's response to the celebrities who came out with their anti gun Demand a Plan commercial in response to the Connecticut shooting. The NRA came up with these hilarious pictures illustrating the hypocrisy of these Hollywood frauds...
Foxx's role in the film 'Django Unchained' has been criticized
Jaime Foxx came in for the most criticism

Stranding up: Reese Witherspoon is one of the many celebrities featured in the 'Demand a Plan' campaign to call for tougher gun control restrictions Dark side: Despite being known for starring in comedies like 'Legally Blonde', Witherspoon has played violent roles - including this scene where she executes a man

Several gun-toting scenes from Renner's movies were featured in the video
Jeremy Renner has starred in several action movies

Actor Jeremy Renner is somber in the commercial, but here he is playing the role of a killer in one of his action films.

Hamm picked up a shotgun in his new movie 'The Town'
Jon Hamm is best known for his role on Mad Men

Support: Cameron Diaz was one of the stars asking for a ban on 'assault weapons' and restrictions on magazine capacityViolent: Diaz robbed a bank and threatened to shoot patrons in her 1997 movie 'A Life Less Ordinary'

Cameron Diaz asked for a ban on assault weapons in the short video. Here she is holding up a bank in the 1987 movie A Life Less Ordinary.

Watch this video and tell me who these people think they are telling the average American anything. How about sticking to acting and singing, which most of them do poorly anyway?

Random shots from the ghetto

This happened at the corner of the Blogger's street this morning. Talk about a lowlife. Doesn't this fool know he'll shoot somebody's eye out?...

A school bus was struck by BB gun pellets this morning in South Buffalo, but it is believed no students on board were injured, police spokesman Michael J. DeGeorge said.

The incident occurred at about 6:45 a.m. at Houston and Hopkins streets. Though no arrests have been made, South District police are in the process of questioning "a number of individuals," DeGeorge said.

Comedian/attempted murderer

From today's Buffalo News...

Ferry-Fillmore District police were searching for a gunman who opened fire and shot a man six times early Friday morning at Kilhoffer and Genesee streets, according to Buffalo police reports.

Larry Brown, no age or address listed, told police his assailant approached him at about 2:40 a. m. asking for a cigarette then told him a joke and pulled out a small handgun and shot him six times.

Close call

There were gun shots on South Park and Louisiana Streets yesterday....

Youth, 17, is victim of multiple shots

A 17-year-old Buffalo youth was shot multiple times at about 3:15 p. m. Sunday at a gas station and convenience store in the 400 block of South Park Avenue.

Skeeter Walker was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

Walker was shot in the stomach and left leg. He jumped into a vehicle and was then dropped off at 1459 South Park and taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Walker is no relation to former Bisons slugger Skeeter Barnes...

There's one in every crowd

Did you hear about this one? A veteran firefighter in Arizona refused to go to the scene when Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot last month because of his "political views." From the Arizona Daily Star...

While the crew was not among the first called to the supermarket where six people were killed and 13 others wounded, a memo from Ekstrum's supervisor said his actions caused "confusion and delay" during the emergency.

Ekstrum's team, which is specially trained to handle large medical emergencies, was dispatched to assist 90 minutes after the Jan. 8 shooting.

The 28-year veteran of the Tucson Fire Department retired two days later while his supervisors were still considering how to discipline him, according to the Star, which obtained the memos about the incident through a public records request.

Capt. Ben Williams wrote in a report that when Ekstrum first said he would not go on the call, "he mentioned something about 'political bantering' and he did not want to be part of it."

I thought they had psychological tests to screen out people like this. When someone gets shot, the last thing on anyone's mind should be what political party they belong to. Imagine if one of the Buffalo firefighters didn't feel like responding to the woman struck by the car on Seneca and Duerstein on Thursday? They had to use air bags to pump up the pickup truck to get it off of her. I hope I never get shot or struck by a car in Buffalo. With my views, more than one responder might fail to "respond"...

7 of 8 City Grill victims had criminal past

The Buffalo News released this information today about the victims of the City Grill shooter:

Eight young people who grew up on Buffalo's streets were gunned down in a hail of bullets last weekend outside City Grill downtown, four of them fatally.

And arrest and conviction records.
Their records indicating past or present associations with crime begets a certain lifestyle risk, law enforcement and criminology experts say.

We don't need law enforcement or criminology experts to tell us that. The picture the families gave the news showed guys in their 30s flashing gang symbols. Nothing should be done to punish City Grill. These were criminals and shootings are one of the things criminals do. The news also pointed out:

-One of the dead victims was on probation and forbidden from being inside any establishment serving alcohol.
-Two of the eight who were shot served state prison time on weapons or assault charges.
-Five are convicted felons.
-Six have been arrested by Buffalo police since 2008.

The scary part is that these guys were all out downtown to begin with. You, I, or one of your loved ones could easily have been downtown around City Grill and crossed paths with these people. Of course, now that the victims were shot, area leaders are describing them as saints:

"Because they had one, two arrests, it caused them to be slaughtered? That's just really ridiculous," said Arlee Daniels Jr., chairman of the Stop the Violence Coalition. "You show me a man on the face of the earth who never sinned."

"Which one of us growing up was Mother Teresa, other than Mother Teresa?" asked the Rev. Kinzer Pointer, who knew several of the victims and their families. "To paint everyone with a brush that their lifestyle led to this? Give me a break."

I hate to tell Daniels and Pointer this but the people I know have not been arrested for assault and do not carry loaded firearms around with them. Look at a few examples from this case:

Robbs was sentenced to prison in 2001 after he shot at another man but missed and shot an innocent bystander, a 51-year-old woman, in the ankle. Shortly after the shooting, an eyewitness led police to where Robbs was playing basketball.

Tiffany Wilhite, 31, who was killed in the massacre outside City Grill, was serving a five-year sentence of probation for felony reckless endangerment in connection with a January 2009 fight outside a Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood bar where she used her Jeep Cherokee to run down four women, breaking one of the victim's pelvis in four places.

Willie R. McCaa III, 26, who was also killed, had survived a March 2008 shooting outside an East Side store. He was scheduled for trial last week in State Supreme Court on charges he and another man robbed a man at gunpoint in May 2008 at Kensington Avenue and Godfrey Street.

These were people with criminal records who lived a dangerous lifestyle. Should they have been shot to death? No. Is it unfortunate? Yes. Should we be surprised it happened based on their lifestyle choices? No.

Club Chit-Chat shooting

Club Chit Chat seems to be a magnet for unsavory types these days. Last night, there was a shooting, leaving one dead and two injured. The Chit Chat dancers are not known to be the fittest girls around. The one seen at the end of this clip looks like she could be the answer to the Bills' problems at Defensive End.

How could this happen in the safest city in America?

Something with this story just doesn't seem to add up. Is this just a horrible tragedy where 31 year old David Park just walked into the wrong house? An anti gun person would say this is one reason we don't need guns. Too much potential for accidents. A pro gun advocate would say the Amherst homeowner was well within his rights to shoot the man. To me, it just seems like there is more going on here than the Amherst police are telling us. Shouldn't the homeowner have realized that the victim didn't pose a threat? Or was there so much confusion that the victim never realized he was in the wrong house? Since when do guys go to baby showers, much less get drunk at one? Was the neighbor's door left unlocked at 1AM? Hopefully, more information will come out regarding this story.
