How did cop stripped of badge get job? | WIVB.com

With so many young people looking for police positions, it makes you wonder who was going to bat for Jorge Melendez. Melendez, it turns out, was a FBI informant in New York City. He was deeply involved in the drug trade back then. Either the city of Buffalo is completely inept at screening who they hire, or somebody knew something. This character should have never been given a badge...

Whitney Houston flag controversy

S
ome people are up in arms over New Jersey governor Chris Christie's decision to lower the flag at half staff to honor deceased singer Whitney Houston. I think it was mighty White of him to do so.

I take it as a blatant vote grab. Career politicians do this kind of stuff every day. Christie, who has Presidential aspirations, should be arrested for pandering, as this was simply an effort on his part to endear himself to the black community. Houston was a great entertainer. Her rendition of the Star Spangled Banner at the Bills-Giants Super Bowl is probably one of the best on record, in my humble opinion. However, her life took a wrong turn when she decided to turn to drugs. Preliminary reports say drug use caused her death.

I liked Kurt Cobain and Heath Ledger as well. But honoring them with the flag would have been akin to condoning their lifestyles, too. I would have been against that, also. What kind of message does this send to impressionable young people (both white and black)? Drug use is such a serious problem in our culture and should never be glamorized in any way. Clearly, soldiers and law enforcement personnel killed in the line of duty are deserving of this honor. However, entertainers? Here is Christie explaining his decision to the people of New Jersey. He should just stick to kicking field goals for the Bills...

Drug bust on East Side

The FBI cracked down on a gang of lowlife thugs today. And after they finished with the Erie County Democratic Committee members, they also arrested some drug dealers.

The news conference had been scheduled for noon. However, once they realized how many relatives of the Common Council, the mayor, and local ministers were in custody, the FBI decided to change it to 2PM. That gave them enough time to come out with a "revised" list...

Independent Health along with the United Way of Buffalo are sponsoring a drug exchange program this Thursday at the Walden Galleria Mall at 7PM. People are encouraged to bring their prescription drugs and trade them with someone else's.

If you suffer from Depression, you might want to try something for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Got anxiety? Bring your mood altering drugs and see what it's like to have Restless Leg Syndrome. Let's face it. We're all suffering from one thing or another. Might as well share the pain.

Channel 4's dirty little secret

Here's a picture of Joe with Victoria Hong (with the outfit she's wearing, I hope for her sake, she's on drugs, too)

I'm surprised channel 4 was able to keep this story under wraps for three years. Anchor man Joe Arena left his previous job in Louisiana after being arrested on drug charges.

Hey, I don't start rumors. I just help spread them. Here are some comments from a blog I found on the subject of Arena's arrest. From these comments, it appears as though St. Joseph isn't doing much to improve his image around town. Remember, nothing gets past your neighborhood Blogger...

-I live in Western New York.
I saw Joe Arena on Delaware and Allen last night acting a fool!
He was cursing and yelling walking down the street. Caused a huge scene. and could barely walk he was so drunk.

-Not only did he get busted, but he's a narc too! Charges "taken care of".... YEA! I wonder who he ratted on to get out of trouble?

-What a r*****! I see him out high as hell all the time. Won't be long till Buffalo's finest catch up with him.

-I think Al Vaughters should look into this...

OK, so Joe, Mike Cejka, and Don Paul walk into a bar... Never mind. Here's the link...

Here's some footage of Joe saying "I do" to one of South Buffalo's Lewis girls. She's nice, so I hope it was only pot he was caught with...

Celebrating St. Patrick's Day early?

If you're drinking, taking oxycodone, and carrying an unregistered, loaded weapon, it might be a good idea to make yourself a bit less conspicuous...

Man Arrested After Being Pulled Over for Green Headlights!

The driver, JUSTIN MEALY, 29, of Randolph, was removed from the motorcycle for the purpose of performing field sobriety tests, as he had been drinking alcohol prior to the traffic stop. While performing a safety pat down, Trooper KRYWALSKI located and secured a bag containing 5 Oxycodone pills in MEALY’s pocket and a loaded .380 semi automatic handgun concealed in the small of his back.

Location location location

The Buffalo News always shows their ignorance when try to describe (inaccurately, of course) the locations of city neighborhoods. Nobody on Perry Street or South Buffalo considers Perry Street to be in South Buffalo. I guess that's what happens when your entire staff is suburban...

Cocaine bust in South Buffalo
Buffalo police said they found Larry J. Paige, 21, with 18 small plastic bags containing crack cocaine when they approached him around 1 a.m. today outside 495 Perry St. In a report, police said Paige acted suspiciously, then jumped into a vehicle operated by his mother. Officers said they found both with marijuana, and they found the crack cocaine in Paige's pants pocket. Paige, of 71 Littlefield Ave., is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. His mother, Nadine I. Thomas, 52, also of 71 Littlefield, was charged with marijuana possession.

I agree with this comment submitted underneath the article...

Two things wrong with the headline, "South Buffalo." Perry is DOWNTOWN, and LITTLEFIELD is EAST SIDE near Schiller Park. Does anyone at the Buffalo News know where South Buffalo is? It's SOUTH OF THE BUFFALO RIVER and starts approx Smith/South Park and Bailey/Seneca

Did Derenda tip off drug dealers?

Looks like police Commissioner Dan Derenda inadvertently tipped off drug dealers by telling the members of the Police Reorganization, "something big is going down next week."

The funniest part of this clip is channel 2's Dave McKinley attempting to speak jive when reading the wiretapped conversations of the drug dealers. McKinley strikes me as a Mike Cejka/Chris Lee waiting to happen. Keep your eyes on him. Word...

Is he still in charge of the commission?

If you're the chairman of the city's Police Reorganization Commission, it's probably not a good idea if your part time job is major cocaine dealer...

The interim chairman of a city commission studying police reorganization was arrested early this morning when federal agents rounded up several members of the Afro Dogs motorcycle club in a major cocaine investigation.

Ricky M. Allen Sr., a business owner who was elected in January as interim chairman of the Buffalo Joint Commission to Examine Police Reorganization, was arrested at his home about 6 a.m.

Allen was appointed by University Councilmember Bonnie Russell, who says she really didn't know too much about Allen before appointing him to this major commission. That makes a lot of sense. That sound you hear is the sound of Russell covering her tracks. Russell's husband is a judge. Sigh...

You also have to give credit to the Police Department leaders. One of the people arrested today was J. Lockwood, the brother of Deputy Commissioner Byron Lockwood. He obviously wasn't given preferential treatment.

S. Buffalo pill popper busted robbing drug store

Here we have a class act. A South Buffalo druggie stealing painkillers so he can sell them to other South Buffalo druggies. I wonder why more people don't become drug dealers? It always seems to work out so well. You can live in your mother's basement until you either get shot or sent away for 15 years (usually before your mid 20s).Michael McCallum, 25, who is no relation to former Navy Midshipman/former Oaklan Raider Napoleon McCallum, was arrested after stealing 1,300 pills the other day...
Photobucket
A South Buffalo man was arrested this morning on charges that he robbed more than 1,300 painkiller pills from a pharmacy and has been selling them on the streets.

Michael D. McCallum, 25, was taken into custody about 10 a.m. by agents from the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and Buffalo Police.

He is accused of robbing the Clinton Pharmacy, 2032 Clinton St., on Dec. 31 and then selling stolen oxycodone pills to addicts. He also is accused of illegally possessing drugs with intent to distribute.

Lackawanna shooting

One of the drug suspects had been arrested 27 previous times. It's terrible that Lackawanna police had to use deadly force. However, the bigger question I have is, who are the judges letting someone on the streets after 27 arrests? Obviously, one of the reasons they are leading a life of crime is because they aren't too worried about the punishment. I wonder how many lives they've ruined through their distribution of illegal drugs. Maybe one of these years, we'll go after the kingpins supplying the dealers with drugs. I'll start holding my breathe now. By the way, is every cop in Lackawanna named Jaworski?...

Teacher Busted For Ecstasy Possession - WBEN NewsRadio 930 : Buffalo & Niagara Falls, NY

http://www.reelwavs.com/movies/sounds/caddyshack/drugs.wav
Listen to Ty Webb - Do you take drugs Danny? from Chevy Chase
From WBEN: A local teacher was arrested today and charged with drug possession. What always gets me about teachers is how some are surprised to hear stories like this. Teachers are just like everybody else. Some are very stable. Others, not so much. My problem with some of them is the inflated sense of self importance they have. (Not all, but some.)It's like they feel they have to try and sound intelligent all of the time, a task made easier for some more than others....

Buffalo, NY (WBEN) A Buffalo school teacher has been arrested, charged with drug possession. Erie County Sheriff's deputies made the arrest Thursday night, and announced it Friday.

Deputies say Victoria Minella, 30, of Sanders Road, was taken into custody having a large quantity of ecstasy. She faces charges of criminal possession of a hallucinogenic drug with intent to sell, criminal possession of a hallucinogenic substance, criminal posession of a controlled substance and having a controlled substance not in its original container.

Minella was arrested after detectives executed a search warrant. She teaches at School 79. Deputies say she worked at other schools including McKinley High, East High, and a science magnet school.

Minella is being arraigned Friday afternoon. We'll follow this story throughout the afternoon.

Teacher Busted For Ecstasy Possession - WBEN NewsRadio 930 : Buffalo & Niagara Falls, NY

In Minella's defense, school 79, also known as The Grabiarz school, could make anyone turn to drugs. It's been a zoo for a long time. She obviously never saw this very special episode of Different Strokes. It was the advent of political correctness in America. We have an Asian teacher giving Arnold advice, and two black kids pretending to buy drugs from their white classmate. The black principal thinks Arnold's lying, until Nancy Reagan tags along and cleans up the drug problem at the school. And how mighty white of her to do so!...

Drug bust

I saw the SWAT cars in Cazenovia Park the other night. I wasn't sure if it was some kind of training or an actual raid. They did seize a lot of cash and weapons. If there is a drug house on your street, you have to report it to the police. You can usually tell the drug houses. They're the ones with cars pulling up for about two minutes and then leaving at all hours of the night. They are not dropping off pizzas...

Stewardess! I speak jive!

Federal drug enforcement administrators are looking for somebody fluent in ebonics (this is not a joke) to help translate wiretapped phone conversations involving potential suspects.

"DEA's position is, it's a language form we have a need for," Sanders said. "I think it's a language form that DEA recognizes a need to have someone versed in to conduct investigations."

The translators, being hired in the agency's Southeast Region -- which includes Atlanta, Georgia; Washington; New Orleans, Louisiana; Miami, Florida; and the Caribbean -- would listen to wiretaps, translate what was said and be able to testify in court if necessary, he said.

The term "Ebonics" -- a blend of "ebony" and "phonics" -- became known in 1996, when the Oakland, California, Unified School District proposed using it in teaching English. After the school board came under fire, it voted to alter the plan, which recognized Ebonics as a distinct language.

The Scream bandit

This guy decided to celebrate Halloween three months early and robbed the drug store on South Park Avenue. It's very scary the lengths some of these addicts will go to get their drugs...

Man with ‘Scream’ mask robs pharmacy of drugs

A man wearing the Halloween mask made famous in the movie “Scream” held up a South Park Avenue pharmacy at gunpoint Monday morning, making off with Oxycontin.
The man entered Nickel City Pharmacy at 9:20 a. m. wearing black canvas gardening gloves with a cotton wristband and a ghoul mask with hot pink trim, Buffalo police said.
Witnesses said he demanded Oxycontin and displayed a black semiautomatic handgun. He made off with three partially filled bottles of the drug, estimated to be worth $2,000.

Strip Club report

There's drug trafficking and prostitution going on at strip clubs? No way.I find this story very hard to believe. Next thing you know, they'll be letting the dancers take off their clothes. One guy accused of leading the drug ring was from 7th Street, a wholesome street in Buffalo known for it's Norman Rockwellike charm. The other guy's name was Joseph "Vegas Joe" Guarino. You don't get a nickname like that by being active in your church...
