Penn State scandal

The scandal at Penn State continues to grow. What was Jerry Sandusky doing trying to defend himself on national television? First of all, grown men know enough not to shower with 10 year old boys. Not only do most people recognize this is inappropriate conduct, most adults would be repulsed at this. His explanation that he was just "horsing around" will end up incriminating Sandusky. It reminds me of when Congressman Eric Messa said he liked to have tickle parties with his male staffers, as if this could somehow be interpreted as everyday normal behavior. His explanation was similarly met with awkward silence by most. Also, what was up with the long pause when Sandusky was asked if he was attracted to young boys? If I was Bob Costas, during the pause, I would have said, "that's a yes."

If it's proven that McQueary did in fact go to the police, they are going to have an awful lot of explaining to do, as well. One question I do have is, what took these parents so long to complain to authorities? They are coming out of the woodwork now. Why didn't any of them go to the police right away? If your son was molested, wouldn't you file a police report? Sad, but this probably explains why they were targeted by Sandusky in the first place.

It's interesting how perspective changes everything. If you looked at Sandusky's picture two months ago, he looked like a typical older football coach. Look at it now and he might as well have horns coming out of his head.

Bridge to nowhere

Courtesy WFMJ
This story would make Lex Luther or South Buffalo's infamous Steele Brothers proud. A 50 foot bridge, valued at $100,000, disappeared and nobody knows how. Apparently, someone "borrowed" it in the middle of the night for the scrap metal...

The most likely scenario is that the thieves used a blowtorch to cut apart the bridge and haul it away. New Castle Development, who owns the property, remembers the bridge being there on Sept. 27. But sometime in the past 10 days, it disappeared. New Castle Development spokesman Gary Bruce told WFMJ, "I thought that with the rain it got washed away."

Photographer Says 'No' To Senior Pictures For Bullying Students - Pittsburgh News Story - WTAE Pittsburgh

We need more people like this Pennsylvania school photographer Jennifer McKendrick. On a Facebook page, she noticed a group of HS seniors bullying other students. When it came time to take their individual pictures, she sent a note to their parents and refunded their money.

She said she couldn't take their pictures knowing how mean they had been to other people. According to the photographer, some of the girls' parents thanked her for bringing the problem to their attention. Good for her and good for the parents who sided with her...

The other Casey

What's funnier than a black guy from Pennsylvania with the name Casey Anthony? Two of his sons are also named Casey Anthony. So, is it common these days for people to give two of their kids the same first name?

I always find it funny when someone shares their name with a famous person, especially when the parents were oblivious to the person's fame. I've coached kids named Marcus Allen, Steven Tyler, Michael Jackson. I haven't had any Bart, Homer, or O.J. Simpsons-yet...

New uses for duct tape

Photobucket
I don't see what the big deal is. They tell you duct tape works for everything. This mom just took it a little bit too far. Can you say Child Protective Services?...

A Pennsylvania woman was arrested and charged with child endangerment after a photo of her posing with baby daughter who was bound and gagged with duct tape surfaced on the internet.

The disturbing photograph, which shows a smiling 21-year-old Caira Ferguson crouching down to her 2-year-old daughter whose arms and legs are restrained by duck tape to a small chair.

Maybe the mother got the idea from this mother. The internet has been a great source for the rest of us to find out how many morons are out there...

You've got a friend in Pennsylvania

This is kind of funny. I guess the city of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania has a real wackjob as mayor. Recently, some disgruntled residents held a rally calling for her to resign. Attached is the resulting video. Linda Thompson, the mayor, appeared in a city hall window and made some gestures at the protesters. Someone then threw a snowball at the window. Oh, did I mention that Harrisburg is the capital city of Pennsylvania and the birth place of Kent Dorfman (AKA Flounder)?...

Mystery man in Olean

This story kind of freaked me out. A man found wandering around near Olean has no idea who he is. He must have suffered some kind of brain injury. Here is his picture:

John Charles Richart has been missing from Bloomsburg, Pa. since July 30th. Family members think he might be the missing man. Here is a photo of Richart from Pamissing.com:

The article says even Richart's own mother can't say for sure whether the two are the same person. Can a person's appearance change this much? It will be interesting to see how the DNA matches up.
