International update: Iran

I can't even believe we let Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on American soil to speak before the UN in New York City. In his speech, he confirmed to the rest of the world why it is imperative that Iran never be allowed to develop any sort of nuclear program...

In a fiery speech to the United Nations General Assembly, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad railed today against the United States and European Union, whom he said have "have entrusted themselves to the devil."

The Iranian leader, who has repeatedly called for the destruction of Israel and denied the existence of the Holocaust, spoke today on one of Judaism's holiest days, Yom Kippur. During his speech he referred to Israelis as "uncivilized Zionists."

Other than that, Ahmadinejad seems like a pretty stable guy. My favorite part of his rant was when he criticized the United States for not treating Osama bin Laden with respect...

In addition, he criticized the United States for "throwing" Osama bin Laden "into the sea without military trial," referring to the U.S. disposal of bin Laden's body off of a U.S. warship following Muslim prayers.

If someone murdered 3,000 innocent Iranians, this wackjob would be dragging their body through the streets of Tehran and shooting shotguns into the air. That's the difference between the US and Iran. We don't cut off the hands of thieves or punish women because they have been raped.

I'd like to see this idiot walk over to Times Square and start explaining to everyday New Yorkers (who lost loved ones in 9/11) why we should have been nicer to Osama.  Ahmadinejad and Iran should be treated differently than the rest of the civilized world. Any country supporting a fool like is clearly not made up of civilized people.

Don't believe me how crazy these people are? Look what they did back to Sgt.  Slaughter back in 1985...

International update: Iran

Photobucket
I guess you could say the criminal justice system in Iran works slightly different than over here...

Iranian authorities have amputated the hand of a convicted thief in front of other prisoners, in a possible step towards restoring the punishment to common use and carrying it out in public, state radio reported today.

Cutting off the hands of thieves – allowed under the Iranian judiciary's strict reading of sharia law – has been rare in Iran in recent years, but the amputation was the second this month. A week ago, a judge ordered the same punishment for a man who stole from a sweet shop, though he can still appeal against that ruling.

The 32-year-old convict whose hand was cut off at a prison in the central city of Yazd had committed four robberies and other crimes. Iranian state radio did not elaborate or identify the prisoner by name.

There were no details on how the punishment was carried out. There have been conflicting reports in the past, with some saying amputations were done in the early 1980s without medical supervision. A recent news report said they would now be carried out with anesthetic.

At least they are now using anesthetics. Does this mean the Iranian criminal justice system is becoming soft?

Thinning of the herd

I feel so sorry for the jailed hikers in Iran. Hiking across the Iran/Iraq border seems like such a safe, harmless thing to do in the year 2010.We have such great diplomatic relationships with both countries.

Is there any way American citizens can plead with the Iranian President to keep them in jail longer? Hey wackjobs:Have you ever heard of the Andes or the Colorado Mountains? What are you going to do next, go cycling in Afghanistan?
Play tennis in North Korea? This is what scientists commonly refer to as natural selection.

Iranian woman sentenced to death by stoning

People can say anything they want about different cultures. They can say Muslims like this are simply extremists and do not represent the entire group as a whole. I disagree with that. These people are simply nuts. A woman in Iran, who has already received 99 lashes, has recently been sentenced to death by stoning because of the crime of adultery. Recently. As in the year 2010 and not the year 40 BC.

The President of Iran and his top men refuse to do anything to stop the stoning. Why would they? It's probably politically unpopular to oppose the sentence in a country where 99% of the people are crazy. After all, look at who they elected President. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is speculated to have been one of the criminals who took the 50 American Embassy workers hostage for over a year in 1979. In our country, we put people like this in jail. In Iran, they apparently elect them President. In countries like Iran, women are themselves arrested for the "crime" of being raped. Honor killings still take place with regularity. For example, a boy commits a crime. His sister is raped or even killed in a sanctioned act by order of the judge as a punishment for her brother's crime. In their warped view, this is said to bring honor to the family.

With a mindset like this, it's hard to believe anyone would take these people seriously. It's easy to say it's just the actions of a few. However, these extremists must have the backing of the general public to allow this stuff to continue. And these are people who claim to be working with us? No thanks.

bin Laden hiding in Iran

Are you kidding me? New intelligence reports suggest that Bin Laden is living in a town in Iran with a population of 250,000 people. Thought to be in Afghanistan for years, now they say he has been living under Tehran's protection for the last five years. Authorities report he also has been receiving help from Turkey.

The military intelligence website Debkafile reports:

The location of the al-Qaida leader was pinned down by a Kuwaiti newspaper that identified Sabzevar as the town where bin Laden has been hiding.
The remote town of about 250,000 residents is difficult to access because of mountains and a salt desert, Debkafile says.

With all the technology we have today, you're telling me we can't bring this guy to justice? Iran's President was one of the students that took the Americans hostage in 1979. He and bin Laden should both be in someone's sights right now. bin Laden is six foot six. He should be easy to spot hiding out somewhere in a town smaller than Buffalo, regardless of how mountainous it is. Where's James Bond when you need him?

People that think differently from us...

You might have thought the recent earthquakes in Iran were caused by several fault lines running underneath the country. That's not the case however. The quakes have actually been caused by Iranian women wearing makeup in public. These are people some amongst us want to negotiate rationally with?

Extramarital sex fuels earthquakes, warns Iran cleric
From correspondents in Tehran

A SENIOR Iranian cleric has claimed that dolled-up women incite extramarital sex, causing more earthquakes in Iran, a country that straddles several fault lines, newspapers reported today.

"Many women who dress inappropriately ... cause youths to go astray, taint their chastity and incite extramarital sex in society, which increases earthquakes," Ayatollah Kazem Sedighi told worshippers at overnight prayers in Tehran."Calamities are the result of people's deeds," he was quoted as saying by reformist Aftab-e Yazd newspaper."We have no way but conform to Islam to ward off dangers."The Islamic dress code is mandatory in Iran, which has been under clerical rule for more than three decades.
