The Redcoats are coming!: Mychajliw announces candidacy for County Comptroller
Former Channel 2 reporter Stefan Mychajliw announced his candidacy for Erie County Comptroller yesterday at the Seneca Babcock Community Center. It's very easy to forget your roots, but Mychajliw hasn't done that. Unlike the career politicians, he is a product of the Buffalo Public Schools and became popular as an investigative reporter by standing up to the people in power. He currently lives in Buffalo's Kaisertown neighborhood. And unlike the rest of them with their "John Edwardslike" hairstylists, Mychajliw still gets his hair cut by Tony the Barber on Seneca Street and drives a 1998 Oldsmobile with 132,000 miles on it. From WKBW...
Born and raised on the East Side of Buffalo near William and Fillmore, Mychajliw is the son of Ukrainian and Polish immigrants.
The youngest of seven children, Mychajliw attended Buffalo Public School #33 in South Buffalo and the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts. The Syracuse University graduate is a business owner who co-founded the public relations firm “Profit Media Group.” 25% of his company’s profits are donated to the Seneca-Babcock Community Center, located in one of Buffalo’s poorest neighborhoods.
Mychajliw has also announced a $10,000 college scholarship to any WNY high school senior who can correctly spell his last name. (OK, we know that's not true.)
Seriously, I hope the voters of Erie County give Mychajliw a chance. He' a different type of leader and not a product of machine based politics. He is not reading from the same old, tired script and seems open to new ideas. I believe he is going to do great things for WNY and I'm even willing to stake somebody else's reputation on it...
