Meeting for a good cause
Hundreds of runners showed up in Orchard Park to raise money to fight Prader-Willi Syndrome yesterday...
Prader-Willi Syndrome is a disability that leads to insatiable hunger.
Those who are affected lack the trigger telling them their stomachs are full, which can lead to stomach rupture. This predisposes people with the syndrome for obesity.
"It comes to the point that a lot of time people need to have food locked up," said Liz Bystrak, the event's co-coordinator. "They have to have all their calories counted, and access to food closely monitored."
There were plenty of volunteers to assist the runners, the course was very flat, and participants were treated to pizza, chicken wings, and an all you can eat buffet. Great people for a great cause. Prader-Willi Syndrome 5K & Walk
